Located just 20 minutes accross the Bay from San Francisco, Piedmont is recognized for its fine architecture and beautiful tree-lined streets. It is regarded as one of the most desirable communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Residents of Piedmont have supported a parcel tax enabling the schools to offer small class sizes, full counseling services and an expansive extra-curricular programs.

Piedmont, a city of about two square miles is completely surrounded by the City of Oakland. This residential community is home to just 11,000 residents. Piedmont began as a resort in the 1870s. Piedmont Park and Blair Park, offering natural springs, a hotel, and refined amusements, attracted wealthy pleasure seekers arriving by streetcar (and, later, cable car). In the 1890s, development of large estates increased and, by 1907, there was enough of a population to incorporate as a city.
